INSPIRATION CELEBRATION HONORS ‘CHAMPIONS OF HOPE’ IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

Dayton, Ohio – Champions of Hope, a moving and poignant recognition ceremony, will take place at Miami Valley Hospital on Sept. 20, 2016. The event salutes and celebrates four inspiring people for their achievements in the fight against cancer.

Selected by a volunteer committee composed of community volunteers and area clinicians in conjunction with the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation, the honorees include a unique Caregiver, Emily Cone, RN, BSN, Infusion Nurse; a courageous Survivor, Sharon Guenther, MSW, LISW-S, Social Worker; an extraordinary Person of Inspiration, Sheryl Bowman; and an outstanding Medical Professional, Elena Mikalauskas, MS, RN, OCN, AOCNS, Clinical Nurse Specialist. Ann Reynolds-Dreisbach, Feature Host/Reporter, ABC 22/FOX 45 will serve as emcee.

The honorees will be introduced through video profiles followed by an award presentation for each recipient. The ceremony takes place on the eleventh floor of the Heart and Orthopedic Centers patient tower at Miami Valley Hospital, One Wyoming Street in Dayton. The event will include heavy hors d’oeuvres beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the formal presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The major sponsor for the event is Innovative Care Solutions. Proceeds will enhance and expand complementary therapies including exercise, yoga, massage and therapeutic art for MVH oncology patients, and provide partial funding for a patient navigator position.

A beautiful tribute bouquet displayed at the event serves as an opportunity for donors to honor their personal cancer champions. Bouquet donations of $25 or more in honor or in memory of a loved one or friend will serve as a meaningful symbol of recognition and will be featured during the evening.
