The Valley Classic

More than 150 golfers participated in the 30th annual Valley Classic golf tournament at NCR Country Club on July 29. Coordinated by a volunteer committee through the MVH Foundation, proceeds benefit diabetes patient education through the Bull Family Diabetes Center. The Valley Classic is the longest-running charity tournament at NCR and one of the most successful in the area.

After a near perfect day on the golf course, Chris G. Pulos stepped in to MC the awards dinner that evening after tournament chair John Bull was unable to attend due to illness. Speakers included Premier Health President and CEO Mary Boosalis, who expressed her gratitude to longtime sponsors, players, volunteers, committee members and tournament chairs. MVH President Mike Uhl acknowledged current sponsors, donors and volunteers for their support.

Premier Physician Network President Diane Pleiman handled introductions and drew raffle names during the program and thanked participants for their support of the Bull Family Diabetes Center. She introduced Miguel Parilo, MD, FACP, the center’s medical director, who spoke about the importance of Valley Classic proceeds in providing care to area diabetic patients. He thanked the Bull Family for their continuing support of the center and the tournament.

Kim Belcastro, chair of the MVH Foundation board, assisted Mr. Pulos with the presentation of skill prizes and team awards during the recognition dinner. The first-ever winning foursome in the newly-created Women’s Division consisted of Vonnie Bittikofer, Mikki Clancy, Jami Kruithoff and Jill Monsour. The first-place gross score team was Tim Antil, Chris G. Pulos, Andy Watson and Joe Woods. The first-place net score team included Rob Butler, Bob Mittlestead and Nelson Spellman.

Life Connection of Ohio was the lead sponsor of this year’s outing along with over 30 sponsors who joined more than 120 other auction, raffle and in-kind donors in support of the tournament. Since its inception in 1990, the Valley Classic has raised more than $4 million in proceeds for various patient programs and services throughout Miami Valley Hospital.  Congratulations to all on 30 wonderful years of the Valley Classic in support of MVH patients!
