Enhancing the Healing Experience: Donor Opportunities at MVH South

Giving Opportunities to Enhancing Healing Through Mind, Body and Spirit

As progress continues on the Spine and Joint Center of Excellence, the MVH Foundation has begun a campaign to raise funds for three components associated with the building project: creating a healing and calming atmosphere within the new center; the addition of an all new outdoor health and wellness area; and the inclusion of a non-denominational, interfaith chapel at MVH South.

Spine and Joint Center of Excellence
Donor opportunities will include artwork, furnishings and furniture throughout the building. In addition, plans call for two very striking features – a two-story sculpture rising in the main entry way depicting movement and wellness; and a warm and inviting two-sided fireplace in the orthopedic surgery waiting area. This area will create a welcoming and calming space to help ease what can be a stressful situation for patients and families.

Health and Wellness Outdoor Complex
The outdoor sports medicine area ties into the hospital’s outstanding orthopedic program, significantly expanding the services already offered through the Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Sports Performance programs. Patients undergoing physical rehab, competitive athletes, members of the public and hospital staff would be able to exercise and train in the fresh amidst the hospital’s beautiful wooded surroundings. While as yet unconfirmed, the outdoor space could include a wide range of training opportunities including basketball hoops, a smaller-scale football practice field, a straight track and exercise stations.

MVH South Chapel
Since the opening of MVH South in 2007, a long-held dream of patients and staff has been the availability of a formal, non-denominational, interfaith chapel at the hospital. Donor availabilities for the chapel would include furniture and furnishings, artwork and a special goal of relocating stained-glass windows from the chapel at the downtown campus to the new chapel at MVH South.

Other Donor Opportunities
There is also an opportunity to establish donor-supported endowments for staff education. There is an ongoing need to provide funding for clinical staff to participate in educational opportunities to maintain core competencies and to stay up-to-date on the latest protocols and research in their area of expertise. Additionally, naming rights for specific areas inside the Spine and Joint Center – as well as naming rights for the building – are available for donor support.

Plans for all of these projects share a common focal point in connecting spiritual and emotional well-being with physical healing. Whether training in the outdoor area, relaxing by the indoor fireplace, or engaging in spiritual reflection in the chapel, these enhancements rely on the generosity and commitment of donors. Contributions both large and small will turn these dreams into reality for patients, families, visitors and staff at MVH South.
