Emmett’s Place Virtual Family Night at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery
The third annual fundraiser for Emmett’s Place will be held on October 23, 2021 at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in support of Emmett’s Place located in the Berry Women’s Center at Miami Valley Hospital.
Emmett’s Place is a quiet area of relaxation and hospitality for the immediate family members of NICU patients and antepartum mothers and their families. The space allows guests to take a break from hospital routines to unwind, enjoy a meal, and have a chance to be close to one another during a hospital stay.
The space was named in memory of Dr. Derek and Emily Sorensen’s infant son, Emmett Mikael Sorensen. After a month-long hospital stay, the Sorensens brought the idea of a family space to the MVH Foundation to help ensure that Emmett’s brief life would have a long-lasting, positive impact on other NICU families.
