The seventh annual 2009 Clemens Cycle for Cancer raised nearly $7,000 for outreach and educational activities for cancer prevention and research at MVH. More than 160 riders took part in the 2009 event, doubling the number of riders from the previous year. Thank you riders, volunteers and sponsors!
Riders posted photos honoring loved ones who have fought cancer on a Hero Wall which is on display at Minai Valley Hospital South. Proceeds from the 2008 event touched the lives of more than 4,600 individuals through various cancer screening events, education and awareness initiatives. Congratulations and thanks to the Clemens family for choosing MVH as the recipient of proceeds from the ride.
Rick and his siblings started the event to honor the battle courageously waged against the disease by their parents, Nancy and Dick Clemens. What began in 2003 with only a dozen riders is now an annual event, that has seen hundreds of cyclists raise nearly $38,000 for cancer programs at MVH.
“We are thrilled to be working with Miami Valley South, and the Foundation,” Rick said. “Thanks to their support and enthusiasm, I now see this event going farther than we ever could have envisioned in Honoring Your Hero.”
